SJS Summer and Fall Tournament Teams FAQs
Answers to some frequently asked questions:
Please watch the website daily to keep up with news updates.
Important waiver and roster info for each tourney will be posted here as we receive the details from tourney organizers.
Alternates attend all practices, receive a uniform and, oftentimes, are offered the opportunity to attend one or more tournaments. They play at a reduced cost initially (deposit) and then pay per tournament when asked. If the alternate is asked to play in all tournaments, the total cost will equal that of a full rostered player.
Refunds due to injuries can only be considered with a doctor's note received by May 1st for the summer tournament season. A $200 dollar admin fee will be retained by SJS. Refunds for injuries will only be considered when the injury keeps the player out of the summer or fall tournament season. Making the choice not to commit to a season is not under consideration for a refund.
**Please note that SJS reserves the right to move players back and forth between the Pink and Black teams as needed. Players are constantly being evaluated. Commitment and character are as important as talent. This is a cumulative process over time. The more contact we have with players via clinics, camps, small group training and summer and fall practices and tournaments, the more accurate our assessment of an individual's talent and potential. Players are not entitled to team roster spots from one year to the next. Tryout performance, while major, is only one step in the evaluation process. Players are placed on teams based upon on their consistent performance over time and are also evaluated by their summer and fall team coaches. SJS places a premium on the player's skill set proficiency.
Black team rosters are sometimes larger in number than the Pink. The SJS Staff may still be evaluating some players for future movement or placement. Example; if there are 24 players on a Black team and 17 on the Pink team of the same grade, there is a strong possibility that 2-4 players may be moved to the Pink team at some point, usually during the fall and winter clinics. Ultimately, the goal is for all of our players and teams to maximize their potential.**
A MAXIMUM OF 21 PLAYERS ARE TAKEN TO TOURNAMENTS. (22, if 2 goalies)
If a team has 13 or less players committed, it is possible for that team to be disbanded due to small numbers. It is also possible that players will be added at a later date, often evaluated at clinics for inclusion on the team.
The fall tournament season is an extention of the summer season. A player's commitment is to both seasons. All SJS camps and clinics are optional but aid in your development and growth within the SJS program. A player's high school sport season takes precedence over SJS lacrosse. However, you are expected to make all practices and tournament games that you can, even if you are late.
You MUST have a current US lacrosse number to play. Proof of membership must be brought to first practice and shown to your coach.
