SJS 2012 Summer Tournament Teams FAQs |
|
Answers to some frequently asked questions:
Please watch the website daily through July to keep up with news updates.
Important waiver and roster info for each tourney will be posted here as we receive the details from tourney organizers.
Alternates attend all practices, get a uniform and, oftentimes, are offered the opportunity to attend one or more tournaments. They play at a reduced cost and then pay per tournament when asked.
**Please note that SJS reserves the right to move players back and forth between the Pink and Black teams as needed. Players are constantly being evaluated. Commitment and character are as important as talent. This is a cumulative process. The more contact we have with players via clinics, camps and summer tournaments, the more accurate our assessment of an individual's talent and potential. Ultimately, the goal is for all of our players and teams to maximize their potential.**
A MAXIMUM OF 20 PLAYERS ARE TAKEN TO TOURNAMENTS.
You MUST have a current US lacrosse number to play. Proof of membership must be brought to first practice and shown to your coach.

2012 TEAM PARENTS |
|
Every summer, each team organizes it's own tents and snacks, etc. for the tournaments. Anyone wishing to step forward and be a team parent for their daughter's team, to coordinate the set up of tents/snacks for their team, etc., please contact me and I will send you your team email list as soon as it is available.
This job can be as much or as little as you would like. A tent, a table and some coolers or full-out bbqs and cookouts. Everyone is always very eager to help and happy to spend this time together.
Please note that each team sets up their area independently. We have had some minor issues in the past with teams who came without tents or food ending up in other team tents, accidentally eating food planned for another team, etc. While we pride ourselves on being one big family, this does make a difficult situation for everyone. Parent volunteers from each team organize and plan for enough food as well as making sure there is enough tent space to keep each team cool.
Please contact Suzanne if you are willing to help your team organize tent space, food, and/or any other bonding activities for your team for this summer.
Thank you in advance.
The following is the list of parents so far who have graciously offered to be our team parents for this year. Please do everything you can to support them and make their jobs easier!
Thank you!
Suzanne

South Jersey Select Lacrosse Mission |
Post Office Box 129
Moorestown, NJ 08057 |
| |

|
|
The goal of South Jersey Select Lacrosse is to offer student athletes throughout Southern New Jersey the opportunity to improve their skills, awareness, and athleticism. This will be accomplished thru clinics, camps, and summer showcase tournaments. Though Moorestown based, and originally part of the Moorestown Lacrosse Club, SJS evolved out of the need to fill a void for all South Jersey girls interested in furthering their lacrosse skills and representing South Jersey at a national level. We are committed to improving each athletes level of play by bringing the best players together and enlisting the services of the areas best coaches and current collegiate stars. We are dedicated to teaching skills and fostering the players understanding of game strategies while having fun in a very competitive environment.
Once a student athlete becomes a member of a SJS tournament team, it is their responsibility to commit themselves to making every practice, of which there will be approximatedly 10 2 hour practices to prepare for the summer tournament program, and approximately 2-3 practices for the fall program.
All teams will practice with one another regardless of age, to maintain a level of continuity and consistency within the program. The high school sports seasons and the players' respective school practices will take precedence over SJS practices. Players who are unable to commit to required activities or exhibit questionable or inappropriate behavior detrimental to the team environment will be replaced by an alternate.
SJS teams attend 3-4 top competitive tournaments each summer. Tournaments competed at in the past include in Champions Cup, All American Showcase, Capital Cup, Lax For The Cure, Lax By The Sea, and The Rise.
In addition, in the fall, current junior and sophomore teams will attend 2-3 top national recruiting tournaments such as the Mid Atlantic, Rivalry Challenge, T3 Fall Faceoff and President's Cup tournaments. All players are responsible for their own travel and hotel costs.
SJS coaches are always available to assist our high school athletes in their recruiting efforts, answering questions and helping to contact collegiate coaches. All club members have access to individual skill, speed or strength sessions through their coaches. |
